Performance Management

Performance management is the process of managing the execution of an organization’s strategy. It is a framework to alignbusiness improvement methodologies with people, technology and processes to get tangible results. The Balanced Scorecard is at the heart of organizations’ performance management suite, but it also comprises the processes, software tools, and systems that manage the total performance of an organization. It enhances the cross-functional decision making by providing much greater visibility with accurate, reliable, and relevant information—all aimed at executing an organization’s strategy.

Common Assessment Framework (CAF)

The CAF is an easy-to-use, free tool to assist public-sector organisations across Europe in using quality management techniques to improve their performance. The CAF is a total quality management (TQM) tool which is inspired by the major Total Quality models in general, and by the Excellence Model of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) in particular.  It is especially designed for public-sector organisations, taking into account their characteristics. The model is based on the premise that excellent results in organisational performance, citizens/customers, people and society are achieved through leadership driving strategy and planning, people, partnerships, resources and processes. It looks at the organisation from different angles at the same time; a holistic approach to organisation performance analysis. 

 

The EFQM Excellence Model

The EFQM Excellence Model is the most widely used organisational framework in Europe where it has become the basis for the majority of national and regional Excellence Awards as well as the European Excellence Award (EEA).

There are three key aspects of the model: the fundamental concepts of excellence, the model framework, the RADAR management logic; 

The model contains 9 criteria and 32 sub-criteria to address in order to achieve true Excellence. The EFQM includes suggestions, which are not prescriptive, as to what kind of proof to use to demonstrate excellence in each of these areas
